President’s Message
Greetings;
With only a few days of the Exchange under our belt, it’s too soon to assess the consumers’ reaction. Outside of log in issues, long waits and screens timing out, once in, what do they think? I think it will be a while before we have some national statistics on how many have signed up, so until then stay buckled up, it’s sure to be a long ride.
Our October meeting promises to give us the state update on our exchange; Julian Lago, our RVP for NAHU and our State Exchange Coordinator, will be our presenter this month. We look forward to hearing from him and hope to see you all there.
Meanwhile, Congress is in the midst of a busy work period slated for now through the end of the year that includes budget debates regarding funding for the federal government and raising the country’s debt limit. During this period, Congress will debate topics such as Medicare Reform, Tax Reform, deficit reduction, and other budget priorities. Many have said that Medicare Advantage and the Affordable Care Act’s Health Insurance Tax could be at the center of these discussions.
It is such a busy time in our industry; well really in our country right now, as we roll into 4th quarter, please remember to take some time for yourself and your family. Let’s remain optimistic –
“An optimist is someone who goes after Moby Dick in a row boat and takes the tartar sauce with him” – Zig Ziglar
Sincere Regards,
CFAHU President 2013-2014
